It is safe to say that everyone at some point in their lives is going to suffer from some type of back pain. Whether it be from sleeping on an awful mattress in an economy hotel or while lifting that 75lb box of books while helping a friend move, back pain is always lurking! For the majority of people the pain goes away after a few days off your feet and plenty of rest.  Unfortunately there is a small population of people who suffer from severe back pain on a daily basis, which hinders their daily lives and activities.

  • Acute: Acute back pain usually only lasts a couple of days to as long as two weeks, should it last much longer than this it is most likely not acute back pain you are suffering from. Acute back pain is usually a very sharp pain, most often felt in the lower back.
  • Chronic: Chronic back pain lasts for a few months or even longer or is reoccurring. Often time chronic back pain will go away for weeks or longer then return. Chronic back pain usually comes from one or more of the three following causes, arthritis, nerve damage or even from a past accident or injury. The symptoms of Chronic back pain are usually numbness and a burning sensation that usually travels from the back all the way down to the legs.
  • Neuropathic: Neuropathic is also known as severe back pain. Just recently this type of back pain gained its own name and symptoms. This type of pain has been described by patience’s as severe, stabbing, and lightning-like. In severe back pain, most of the time the injury has been healed from quite some time but certain nerves keep sending signals to the brain that the pain is still present.
